Bye Bye Photoshop, Hello Manga Studio

Firstly I love Bucky, every comic hes been in so far has been pure class. I just picked up the Death of Captain America vol 3 recently and had an oul reread of Secret Invasion where hes brilliantly drawn by Yu.
Heres a pic of him done in Photoshop

As for Manga Studio
Man there is no way to describe the difference in illustrating using these two Programs. I've used Photoshop for about 10 years now and Manga Studio for about 3 hours and I already prefer the latter. It really frees up your arm or something like that and gives me a whole lot more control over the line. This is the first ever sketch i did in MS, its a redraw of the head of Bucky in the previous image, I know its way over the top but I would never have been able to pull that off in PS

Farscape Reviews.

Apologies for the neglected blog of late. I've been working on a fair amount of stuff that cant be shown. That should all change soon enough but before then I think I'll post up some pieces on my process and other things like that.
To start off heres a particularly nice review of all the Farscape issues that have gone on so far

Heres the piece about Strange Detractors

The third series is called Strange Detractors. It was written by Rockne O’Bannon and illustrated by Will Sliney. I am finding this truly enjoyable. Strange Detractors picks up some time after the first Farscape story ends. It begins with one of John’s famous altered reality dreams in which he deals with his anxiety over doing what’s right for his family. He has all these plans for their future, but you know how John’s plans tend to go. When visiting a commerce planet, things suddenly go very wrong. O’Bannon has captured the characters in dialogue and actions just as surely as Sliney has captured their images. Sliney has great characterizations; even with minimal detail he captures them well. He’s nailed their expressions, body language and proportions. His backgrounds are balanced and don’t seem too full, noisy or blank. The final issue of Strange Detractors isn’t out yet but I am eagerly awaiting it, as well as the next series titled Gone and Back.
